Alternate Art, Manga, SP, Parallel: Every One Piece Printing Type Explained With Prices

The same card number can exist in six or more printings with prices from $2 to $2,000. This guide names each one, using Boa Hancock OP07-051 as the worked example.

New collectors get burned by one thing more than any other: buying the wrong printing. A card number like OP07-051 is not one card. It is a family of printings that share a number and nothing else in price. This is the guide to reading a listing correctly, with Boa Hancock OP07-051 as the example because it exists in nearly every form.

The printing types, from cheapest to rarest

  • Base (regular). The standard print with the standard art. Boa Hancock base: $6.57.
  • Alternate Art (AA). Same card, different illustration, usually one per set for the chase characters. Boa Hancock AA: $51.55.
  • SP (Special). A foil reprint of an older card inserted into a later set, marked SP on the card. Boa Hancock SP Foil: $715.
  • Manga (Alternate Art Manga). The manga panel art treatment, the most valuable pull tier. Boa Hancock Manga: $1,497.
  • Anniversary and event alternates. Region or event limited prints, like the Chinese 2nd Anniversary Boa Hancock at $310.
  • Prize and championship printings. Never in packs, awarded at events. These are the $5,000 to $35,000 cards on the most expensive list.

Reading a listing

The printing name is usually in brackets after the card name, and the card itself carries a marker: the SP logo, the manga panel border, the event stamp.
