A One Piece card is printed twice: first in Japanese, then in English months later. The art is identical. The price is not. For most chase cards the English printing costs more, and for a few the gap is enormous. This is the list of the largest English premiums among printings above $200, from tracked sales on both sides.

- Portgas.D.Ace [Top Prize] OP07-119: English $4,065, Japanese $3,283, gap +24%

Why English costs more
- Buyer pool. The English market is the largest, and most graded card demand comes from it. More buyers on the same supply means a higher price.
- Grading habits. English cards are graded far more often, and a large PSA 10 population creates a visible, liquid price for the graded card that pulls the raw price up with it.
- Print timing. Japanese sets release first, so by the time English arrives the character has already peaked in the Japanese market and settled.
The exceptions are worth noting: Shanks [Championship 25-26] trades higher in Japanese ($10,000 vs $3,700); Shanks [Serial] trades higher in Japanese ($4,193 vs $3,153), usually because the Japanese event that produced them was smaller.
If you collect for the art, the Japanese print is the same picture at a discount. If you collect for resale, the English print is the one with the buyers.
